Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) is the oldest and largest co-ed professional business fraternity in the world, founded in 1904 at New York University. We are not a social fraternity — we are a professional organization focused on leadership, career development, and brotherhood. The Psi Kappa Chapter is based at San Francisco State University.
Rush Week runs from August 24 to September 10. We hold multiple events throughout the two weeks — an info night, coffee chats, an alumni networking night, a resume workshop, and a closing social. You don't need to attend every event, but we recommend coming to at least two or three to get a real feel for the chapter.
No — AKPsi is open to students of all majors at SF State. We welcome anyone with a passion for professional growth, leadership, and making an impact. Many of our brothers study engineering, communications, psychology, and more alongside traditional business disciplines.
Yes! Alpha Kappa Psi has been co-ed since 1976. We are a professional fraternity — not a sorority or social fraternity — and all members regardless of gender are equally referred to as "brothers" in our organization.
We typically meet once a week as a chapter, with additional professional events, brotherhood activities, and service projects throughout the semester. During the new member education period, the commitment is higher — but we are transparent about expectations upfront. We believe in quality over quantity and respect that our members are busy students.
Yes, there are national and chapter dues, though we don't publish exact figures publicly. What we can say with confidence: we're one of, if not the most, affordable organizations on campus, and we offer payment plans when needed. Dues cover national membership, chapter events, professional resources, and brotherhood activities.
We accept students of all class standings — freshmen through seniors. As long as you have at least one semester remaining before graduation, you are eligible to rush. We encourage anyone curious to come out to our events regardless of year.
Psi Kappa brothers have gone on to work at top firms across finance, consulting, tech, marketing, and beyond — many right here in the Bay Area. AKPsi gives you access to a national alumni network, professional workshops, resume and interview prep, and peer mentorship. The connections and skills you build here follow you long after graduation.
Start by attending one or more of our Rush Week events (Aug 24 – Sep 10). After rush, formal applications open and selected candidates will be invited to interview. Head to our Apply page to submit your interest form and learn more about the process.
